So here it is, COVID-19 in 5 minutes. Meant for everyday people.
What is Coronavirus?
Coronavirus is a large family of viruses that can cause illness in humans and many animals.
What is COVID-19?
COVID-19 is the official name of the disease caused by this newly discovered Coronavirus.
Where did it start?
This Coronavirus is thought to have started in a meat market in Wuhan, China. That market was known to have a variety of animals for sale. Now the reservoir of the virus is actually bats and the exact mode of transmission from bats to human is not know. Did they virus through other species of animal at that market and then to humans?
What is a pandemic?
On March 11 the WHO officially called it a pandemic, which means spread over a large area, in this case a worldwide spread of the disease.
It has now spread to over 100 countries, with the biggest being hit are China, Italy and Iran. It has also spread to all 50 states in the US.
What are the symptoms of COVID-19?
Symptoms usually develop in 2-14 days after exposure.
