If you’re living with chronic kidney disease, you know how overwhelming it can feel trying to sort through products, promises, and opinions. I’ve been there.
When I was facing kidney failure, I started looking closely at every part of my routine, including diet, lifestyle, and supplements I believed could support my kidney health journey. One of the products I added was Renadyl®, a probiotic and prebiotic supplement formulated for people with kidney disease. According to Renadyl, it is scientifically formulated and clinically studied to help maintain healthy kidney function and help reduce nitrogenous waste metabolites such as urea, uric acid, and creatinine.
On this page, I want to share two things:
-
What Renadyl is and how it is supposed to work
-
My own positive experience using it as part of my overall kidney health routine

What is Renadyl
Renadyl® is a patented probiotic and prebiotic dietary supplement created specifically for kidney support. The official Renadyl website describes it as the first and only natural probiotic dietary supplement of its kind specifically formulated to help support and maintain healthy kidney function. Renadyl also states that each acid-resistant capsule contains 45 billion CFUs of three proprietary probiotic strains.
Those three probiotic strains are:
-
Streptococcus thermophilus (KB19)
-
Lactobacillus acidophilus (KB27)
-
Bifidobacterium longum (KB31)
Renadyl also includes prebiotics, including inulin and xylo-oligosaccharide, which help feed those beneficial bacteria.

How Renadyl Works
Here’s the simple version: As kidney function declines, waste compounds like urea, uric acid, and creatinine can build up in the body. Renadyl explains that some of these nitrogenous waste compounds diffuse into the colon, where the probiotic strains can use them as nutrients. As the probiotics grow and multiply, they help metabolize these waste compounds, which are then removed from the body through normal bowel movements. Renadyl describes this process as helping reduce the burden on the kidneys.
Renadyl’s current materials also describe support for:
-
healthy kidney function
-
the gut microbiome
-
microbiome modulation
-
reduction of certain nitrogenous waste metabolites

My Experience with Renadyl
I want to be very clear: I do not look at Renadyl as a magic fix. I believe kidney health comes from a full plan that includes working with your doctor, staying on top of your labs, improving your diet, and making smart lifestyle choices.
That said, my experience with Renadyl has been very positive. I added Renadyl as part of my kidney health routine, and I personally felt encouraged by what I saw in my labs and by how it fit into my bigger effort to protect my kidney function. On my current Dadvice TV page, I share that after 90 days of taking Renadyl and Kibow Fortis, my BUN dropped from 42 to 28, creatinine dropped from 2.52 to 2.25, and my GFR increased by 4 points. I also share that I continued to feel no CKD symptoms during that time.
Download my labs from before and after using Renadyl™:
Everyone is different. Gut microbiomes are different. Kidney disease is different. Results can vary. But I can honestly say that Renadyl has been a positive part of my routine, and I plan to continue using it as part of the bigger strategy I use to fight for my health.
Why I Chose to Keep Renadyl in My Routine
There are a few reasons I continue to feel good about Renadyl:
-
It is designed specifically for people dealing with kidney issues.
-
It is positioned by the company as a clinically studied supplement, not just a generic probiotic.
-
It focuses on the gut-kidney connection, which is an area many people with CKD are now paying closer attention to.
-
It fits naturally with the way I approach kidney health: steady habits, science-based tools, and consistency over time.
If you’re someone who wants to be proactive and ask better questions about supporting your kidney health, Renadyl may be worth discussing with your healthcare team. Renadyl’s own materials encourage patients to talk with their doctor and even offer a doctor and dietitian discussion guide.
